This upset victory in the South Carolina senate primary is either a really funny democratic screwed up oversight, a physical electoral error, or an extensively sad commentary on voting and voters in our country. Read more...(504 words, estimated 2:01 mins reading time)
The American people have fallen down on the job. We complain about what we have and do not have and blame the politicians for everything and then…we re-elect them. 96% re-election rate. Why? Because we don’t do our homework. We are “too busy” watching American Idol and doing other forms of entertainment, sitting on our butts instead of holding our leaders accountable for their decisions. Most people can’t name their Representative or their 2 Senators, let alone how their congressmen voted on the last bill. Read more...(578 words, 2 images, estimated 2:19 mins reading time)
I wish we would get rid of these career jackasses.
I was watching celebrity apprentice. Rod Blagojevich is on there – or was. He’s adorable, but so totally useless unless you need to talk a paper bag into being a plastic one. He can barely use a cell phone and can’t operate a computer. Another guy opened up Word for him, and Rod took a half hour to type a paragraph. The poor are already paying that sales tax. It’s just hidden from them right now in the form of all kinds of corporate and income taxes passed on from producers of goods and services. The only difference under the fair tax is that you would KNOW how much you’re paying. And the majority would be less inclined to allow elected officials to make expensive promises and billing a minority. Read more...(377 words, 2 images, estimated 1:30 mins reading time)
This is a good one. Pelosi is trying to sell the health reform bill as something helpful to the economy. lol She’s like that sales person who will swear to the patron dying on the sales floor that this juicer will fix the problem. lol Or the idiot on the radio talking about how calcium supplements will prevent cancer – but you have to take his special coral calcium, you can’t just take Tums. Oh what? You’re not worried about Cancer? Everyone in your family dies of heart disease? Well – it just so happens that my coral calcium will prevent heart disease – yes – it’s a heart-health supplement actually. Read more...(375 words, 1 image, estimated 1:30 mins reading time)
One of the jobs of the Senate is to keep Bad bills from getting through. Think about it. Think about all of the highly contentious, arbitrary, partisan issues we have and have had that basically split the country down the middle. And think about the other possibilities of a simple majority rule. Read more...(712 words, 3 images, estimated 2:51 mins reading time)
The uniqueness of the summit was that it was on TV. Presidents have always gathered up congressmen and tried talking them into this or that.
It’s fairly obvious that the summit was a symbol. Obama knows that his only chance of passing this now infamous bill after Brown won is to abuse Reconciliation. The summit was a symbolic show of bipartisanship to try and make the Reconciliation effort look less dastardly. Read more...(215 words, 1 image, estimated 52 secs reading time)
We witnessed a fairly unique political exchange in the experience of this summit. Has no one anything to say about it? Read more...(266 words, 2 images, estimated 1:04 mins reading time)
Craziness. I actually don’t know how to feel. I’m totally behind increased health insurance regulation, but this bill was getting out of hand. This last deal with the unions was a bit much. The Nevada thing was somewhat forgivable. The senator was looking out for his constituency. That’s totally fair. But this deal with the unions (partially exempting their insurance from the status of “Cadillac health insurance”) was ridiculous even from my point of view. It was done to keep union financial support for the democrats. That’s really, really, really partisan. I don’t see how the country could possibly benefit from that. The American people can’t stand for that kind of politics. We’ve apparently spoken in Massachusetts.
That barrel of pork, what a dirty dirty operation. It’s about to be passed. They found all the votes, and by ‘found’ I mean came to an agreement upon how much cash and concessions the hold-outs get for voting for this messy example of bad legislation. I’ve been watching msn. They must only allow the serious partisan congress people on there, or maybe they administer an IQ test to filter out anyone with sense. They’re all so scattered except for their unanimous idea that they tried really hard to get the Republicans in on things, but the Republicans are just being totally rude and everything. I mean, the Dems and Obama tried so hard, so very sincerely hard, for this to be bi-partisan. They let some Republicans talk – like – out loud. Obama listened to some Republicans offer ideas – yeah he ignored the ideas along with the rest of us but again – he let them talk. And it’s not like Republicans aren’t allowed to vote for the bill – they’re just not allowed anywhere near the writing process or anywhere near the bill until right before we all vote for it. I mean, all those jerky Reps had to do was blindly fall in line behind Reid and Pelosi – gosh…
