Reconciliation
One of the jobs of the Senate is to keep Bad bills from getting through. Think about it. Think about all of the highly contentious, arbitrary, partisan issues we have and have had that basically split the country down the middle. And think about the other possibilities of a simple majority rule.
I’m still amazed the Democrats are using Reconciliation. It’s just so inappropriate. But this is all on top of an amazingly brazen and belligerent bill – so my surprise is simply due to my optimism.

There is a silly test you can take to see where you fall on this chart, nolanchart.com Although it isn’t a fair test. I fell just on the Libertarian side of the line between it and Conservative. I have a feeling the guy who made this was Libertarian. Just take the survey (test) and you’ll know what I mean.
The uniqueness of the summit was that it was on TV. Presidents have always gathered up congressmen and tried talking them into this or that.
It’s fairly obvious that the summit was a symbol. Obama knows that his only chance of passing this now infamous bill after Brown won is to abuse Reconciliation. The summit was a symbolic show of bipartisanship to try and make the Reconciliation effort look less dastardly.

Basically the original intent was to pass unsavory changes to keep a reasonable budget. But since it passed in 1974, the two parties have taken turns in the majority and each time raised the precedent for abuse of Reconciliation.
Can you believe these guys ramping up to use Reconciliation to pass the Senate bill? Oh my… You know – when Brown ganked Massachusetts, the evil partisan strategic side of me was like – Oh sweet destiny. Let them come. Oh – let them come. Draw them into the teeth of our forces. Harden their hearts and confuse their minds. Oh – let them use Reconciliation. Oh sweet arrogance – let them use Reconciliation.
I just need this quick rant. Diane Reims read a letter a moment ago. It went something like this, in regard to the new Afghan offensive: I think Obama is taking big gamble. Success is fleeting. The solution is not guns and rockets. I think we should buy the opium harvest outright.
Oh that’s easy. One of the causes of these problems is tax cuts for the rich. And the way you get jobs is put people back to work.
Then people feel good about this and that and spend money, your boy, healthcare, and so on…
