A friend of Noisy Dove had a good story to tell this week. Enjoy..
I was talking with my employer this week about his feelings as one of the top 1% of Americans who would be surtaxed to pay for Obamacare. He began by saying he was fortunate enough that he could afford it, meaning in the grand scheme of his finances the surtax wouldn’t be a big deal to him. Obama, since he started his candidacy, has used somewhat rosy numbers to calculate the costs and benefits of the policies he advocates. His first big one was the promise of “tax cuts” for the poor and middle class, do you remember, even for people who don’t pay income taxes in order to “spread the wealth around”? And added to that he was also going to reduce the national debt. Yeah, campaigns are historically full of wishful promises.Read more...(606 words, 4 images, estimated 2:25 mins reading time)
Obama has been working hard to sell the idea of health care/insurance reform. Last week he even held a special news conference on the subject. His introduction and answers to questions were general and ambiguous, but as usual we were left feeling hopeful. If the conference had ended before the last question was asked – I would have called it a political victory.Read more...(901 words, 4 images, estimated 3:36 mins reading time)

Listen, Mr. President. You’ve been spending a lot of time in the past six months or so defending yourself. Now, it’s understandable, I’m sure you’re not just overly emotional. You’re a smart guy. I keep thinking back to your book – The Audacity of Hope – and trying to remember a passage that might explain your borderline over-reactions. I seem to remember something about taking criticism head-on perhaps? I can’t be sure.Read more...(802 words, 3 images, estimated 3:12 mins reading time)
Talk to some people, maybe some Canadian patients, doctors, or medical residents. They would describe the type of health care system that drives doctors, nurses, and patients alike to move the hell off the maple orchard.

It’s not a question. Medical care is a right in the US. The trouble is we give away the free care at the emergency room. If you’re broke and can’t afford a treatment you need, you don’t get it, your condition gets worse, until you get desperate and go to the emergency room and get treated in the most expensive possible way.Read more...(307 words, 2 images, estimated 1:14 mins reading time)
Watch this really quick. It will convince you that gun laws are already strict enough. It compares a pissy little gun to a more ideal home defense weapon.
It was just the same ambiguous redirect we’ve been hearing – stuff like how we each pay $6000 more than other industrialized countries – making the false argument that the resistance to his plan is to do nothing, “keeping the status quo” (Even the liberals’ favorite guy, Bill O’Reilly wants reform) – claiming the big rush is because of letters he gets from people without health coverage and not his dwindling approval. He remembered to remind us all that it’s Bush’s fault again too.Read more...(629 words, 3 images, estimated 2:31 mins reading time)
Some people are working 50+ hours a week just to feed and house themselves. They make lowwages and are trapped without access to education. Their children inherit this entrapment. Their children have to work right away and get no help.
